When it comes to candles what more can you say except they are the ultimate tool to help you add ambiance to your living environment. They have discovered this with garden lighting and now it has been brought indoors. There has always been something that is very historic and captivating about fire and the life that fire brings to a room environment. Fire is a force that is intriguing to us and really provides a sense of comfort and relaxation. Then to go a step further we have added polar opposites together and created elements in room design that just do not seem they should go together at all. These elements would be water alongside fire. Water is something that we do not see going with fire but instead of fighting each other water and fire truly do the opposite and complement each other. They are the perfect pair when it comes to grabbing our attention which adds to the intrigue of floating candles in your home environment. So what is new about floating candles? Well we have some tips and rules to cover and hopefully you will benefit from all the need to know facts.

TIP #1: Popular Types

Well when it comes to floating candles the most popular come in two main types. These are the easiest to find and the most affordable. The first type is a round floating candle. These tend to do the best when they are lit and start to melt. The shape helps stabilize them in the water and they will stay lit and floating for a long period time. The next type is of course the flower floating candle. This is very popular due to the enormous amount of detail and colors that these floating candles come in. They do not last as long as the round floating candles do but they do add some special character that the round floating candles do not.

TIP#2: Display Idea’s

Most people think that all floating candles are to be used in a tub with red rose pedals. This is not totally true. In fact most people have found much more creative ways to use floating candles that really add that special pop to your home or office. Obviously how they are displayed is what makes the difference. They are not standard like how a plant stand can be, you have options and looks to choose from. The best way to go is to stick with anything that is glass.

Rule #1: Always buy glass when displaying water and floating candles. You want the visual appearance to really show how these two elements can complement each other. The only most efficient way to do this is to be able to see the water that the fire is sitting on top of.

Rule #2: Stick with basic shapes, either a square glass tray for floating candle centerpieces or a large round bowl to hold the water for your floating candle holder. The depth is up to you but I have found the more water you have the more of an impact your set up will have displaying the floating candles. This can be achieved with floating candle bowls.

Rule#3: Decide where you want your eye to be drawn to and focus the placement of your floating candle display around that. If you want the focus to be an entire room, than display your candles throughout. You want to make sure that no matter what you do make sure that the use of candles is balanced throughout the room or office you are decorating.

TIP#3: Features to Look for

Since the popularity of floating candles there are some things to look for when buying them. The first thing is cotton wicks. This may not seem like a big thing but for an even long lasting distribution of the fire a cotton wick is the preferred material. The next feature to look for is if you can get candles that are made out of Paraffin Wax. This kind of wax again is designed to burn evenly and be a nigh lightweight wax that will float and not smother ounce the candle starts to burn. One of the main features that people like is that with these candles you can find them in smokeless designs. This is something to look into especially if you are going to be using a bunch at one time. Smoke is never a good thing to have around you. The next feature is that you can also get unscented wax. Many people have allergies and do not like the smell that most of these candles come in, especially the floating flower candles.

Other than that if you follow these tips and features you are bound to love floating candles like thousands of other people already do. They are a great economic way to add life to any relaxing environment that you want to create. Fire and water is a timeless relaxing element that any room can benefit from and that’s what home décor is all about.
