Northern Italian Details
One of the best parts of home design and home décor is finally getting down with all of the larger scale design decisions and being able to move on to the smaller details. This is what really makes your home feel warm and custom. All of the details and added features that go into a building is what makes so many people stop and really appreciate the look and feel of an area. One of the best opportunities to take advantage of this is when it comes to railings. The impact of a railing can really change the look and feel of a space. If it is an industrial space, residential space or a public space a railing can really help give the feel to the environment.  To do this there are many different types of rails and railing available for you to check out.

Bronze Railings

These are known as custom rails. Mainly because it is hard in today’s world to find a craftsman that is willing to work with bronze and craft the exact look and feel of a rail that you want. The second reason these are so custom is because they are very very expensive to create. Materials alone will run you in the thousands of dollars. Then on top of everything you need to have the time and patience to polish this material. The maintenance on these railings are not a simple wipe down. These are the reasons why you find these railings mainly in historic museums or libraries. They give off that classic look and feel.

Aluminum Railings

These railings are probably one of the most popular railings today. They are the number one choice over wrought iron railings. They work great in all areas for: homes, porches, stairs, decks, pools, fences, gates, or even park railing. You can find this type of rail pretty much anywhere and they come in any style or color that you would like. Most of the time these rails are powder coated which gives them the durability you need out of a railing. The look and feel that aluminum railings have provided to the industry with ease of customization and affordability makes this type of rail a must have for any environment you are looking to update.

Cable Railings

This type of rail is one that tends to have a particular purpose that this type was made for. Depending on the home, office or public use area that this kind of railing is used in, really changes the look of this rail itself. Most of the time this rail is used in park settings and for industrial uses and feels but we can see that if used in a different environment this type of rail seems to take on the look of its surroundings. Very rarely will you find a cable rail used in residential use. The only concern with this railing is what the materials are made out of. Sometimes they are hollow steel tubes and sometimes they are braided steel wires. It just depends on the manufacture and what the use will be. There really is not one material that is better than the other when it comes to cable railings.

Glass Railings

These railings are used in thousands and thousands of applications. From home use to commercial use to retail, the modern clean lines of these rails are something that thousands and thousands of people love. The design look is simple yet sophisticated and can really match with anything that you decide to hang this type of railing on. You should look into this type of railing to give your home or office a nice pop that is different from the norm. As far as price goes they are on the higher end of the price range. They have a long life and really make a statement when used properly.

These are the most popular kinds of railing. Thousands and thousands of designs are available to you for any need that you might have. I would check out options and decide on the look you want and go for it. If you have a particular upholstery fabric near the rail that might help give you some direction and inspiration to get from.  Detailing and accent features like railings are what really makes your home relaxing. Check out going even further and customizing your stair spindles to really make your entry or foyer give off a great feeling.
