A great idea that you can use in your own home design is incorporating basic trays into your designs around your house. By doing this you are incorporating something that is traditionally known as a functional piece of china to more of a rugged useful detail. This takes the elegance that china has and really does a nice job brining that brings it to many different areas of your house. Let’s get to some basic ideas and tips for trays.
Tip #1: Trays for Plants
A great idea that you can use a simple serving tray for is as a plant stand. This can be done one of two ways. The first way is by having a deeper serving tray something like a tv tray or bed tray. You can use it as a water drainage tray. Many times you see this as a set of plants in smaller pots that sort of are accentuated by the designs of the tray used. The second way is by flipping the serving tray over so that is acts as a small table. This is a great idea for a plant stand. This will give your potted plants indoors or outdoors a perfect pedestal that they can be shown on. This is a great idea to really make a perfect look.
Tip #2: Trays for Weights
One of the ideas that many people are using is to use multiple trays and to stack them in sort of a crisscross pattern. Most people create a sort of tree out of two or three of these and the weight of the trays can be used to hold down umbrellas or even a pop up gazebo. This tip can allow you to be able to have a great visual display for your plants as well as help keep your furniture protected from the wind. Some people really like to use silver trays that that will age but this can get very expensive very very quick.
Tip #3: Wall Picture Trays
A different kind of tray that many people tend to decorate with is picture trays or painted trays. These are trays that have been professionally created showing scenes or landscapes. They really are meant to be hung on a wall and be shown off. These tend to be tough to find but if you do come across one that you actually like it is worth snatching it up and showing it off. These are perfect to decorate and display in any home environment.
Tip#4: Indoor Silk Trays
One of the most popular trays is a material tray that is made out of silk fibers. You can find these trays that are actually woven with wicker or straw. The contrast of straw and silk materials really makes these trays look very classy and expensive. These trays look great alone as their own decoration but can be paired with something else as long as it is dry. Since the materials are delicate you cannot use real plants that need water. They are great however with silk plants. By adding the materials from a tray with silk plants really shows that they go together and that they are able to hold their own as part of your home décor.
